What Is Marketing?

Surprisingly, not many know the answer.

This question is surprisingly asked very often, yet answered so little.


Digital Marketers (like me) live in this bubble and just assume that everyone knows what marketing is.


But the reality?


I have a feeling most people think it’s all one giant scam. They believe that marketers are actually just those sleazy salesmen at the car dealership marketing their brand new Lamborghini they got from the junk yard.


But as a matter of fact…


Most marketers are just human beings who want to make people’s lives better. (While doing what they love).


So in this article, I’m going to break down what marketing really is. And how it could help your business.


Marketing isn’t scammy.


Most people see marketing as a giant scam.


It’s not.


People who sell products that people don’t care about in an unethical WAY are scammy.


The average marketer are people like me. I sell my marketing services to help business owners like you achieve more revenue in their business.


And I sell products like my 45 point email checklist to help them earn more money with email marketing.


These help people. They really do.

(At least… that’s what people tell me.)


So, in a sense, marketing isn’t scammy when done right.


Isn’t marketing just a bunch of fake buzzwords and overblown promises strung together?


NO.


See, again, this is unethical marketing, making us all look bad.


If you’re talking Buzz Feed headlines and YouTube clickbait, I don’t do ANY of that.


If I’m being honest, there are many more subtle ways to persuade people. Which might almost be more unethical, but at least I still make sure my product is helping people.


Long story short: marketing is NOT a bunch of fake buzzwords and overblown promises.


It’s about getting the right product to the right people at the right time.
